TREENDALE residents can now access the next generation in high-speed telecommunication with the official launch of Telstra services on the National Broadband Network.
Telstra area general manager Boyd Brown said the arrival of the lightning fast broadband was great news for local residents, who are the first Telstra customers in the South West to be connected.
“This is big news for the Treendale community and the South West,” Mr Brown said.
“The Treendale community is growing quickly and we know many are looking for ways to connect with loved ones overseas, to work from home and to increase their access to digital entertainment.”
Sarah Garbelini is Telstra’s first customer to connect to the NBN in Treendale and she said it had made a huge difference to their everyday lives.
“It is so much easier and smoother to operate our computer and network systems,” she said.
“Now that we have fast internet we would be lost without it – the increase in speed is very noticeable.”
Mr Brown said residents building at Treendale were encouraged to talk to their builder about NBN cabling before the walls go up.
As many as 2,000 homes will be connected to the NBN at Treendale as the community expands.
