THE new Bunbury Farmers Market is so big that there is an espresso bar at the front door and a cup holder attached to the trolley so you can drink it as you walk around.
The brand new Vittoria Road store will officially open its doors this Friday after the Blair Street store closes today after 10 years of operation.
Co-owners Graham Heath and Kevin Opferkuch said the store has been in planning for seven years but was built in just seven months.
“The move to our new store was prompted by a need for more space and a desire to better service our customers,” Mr Heath said.
“This store is what Bunbury residents need and the platform fresh South West produce deserves.”
The new store has 1500sq m of retail space and will contain produce from more than 150 South West suppliers.
The owners have hired German Ingo Maass as their executive chef who has produced a range of salads and sushi dishes to be sold in the store.
“Ingo previously wor-ked as a chef in the five-star Marriott hotel in Dubai and will be performing live cooking demonstrations in store each day,” Mr Heath said.
“In this store you can also take your fresh fruit straight up to our smoothie bar, pick up a loaf of bread baked that morning at our in-store bakery and smell the beautiful flowers at our florist.
“The store will open this Friday at 8am and we would like to see as many people as possible come down and enjoy the full Farmers Market experience.”
