The Lions commence serving breakfast at Fettlers Park from 7am on Sunday January 26.
The Boyanup Farmers’ Markets open at 8am, followed by the South West Rail and Heritage Centre welcoming visitors from 10am.
With each venue being just a few minutes’ distance from the others, it could prove to be an extremely sociable day of celebrations in the town.
Arrangements for the serving of breakfast in Boyanup on Australia Day are set in place and the Lions are ready to go, according to Boyanup Lions Club President Peter Hayes.
“We’ve organised live music and singing, plus a display of vintage motors bikes and cars,” he said.
“The breakfast menu is in place and all the signs are up around the town.”
Mr Hayes said they planned to start at 7am to ensure the early starters could digest their food before heading to the Boyanup Farmers’ Market, which opened at 8am.
The breakfast cooks for a number of years have been the Boyanup Bush Fire Brigade members and according to Peter Hayes, will be again this year.
“Although we’ve increased our membership numbers recently to cover the serving of food, we really appreciate the firies setting up their equipment in the background to cook the food,” he said.
Local singer Elise Payne has been invited to sing the National Anthem this year. Ms Payne has become a familiar face in Boyanup since busking at the monthly farmers markets.
An invitation has also been extended by the Shire of Capel to attend the 2014 Annual Community Awards.
The Awards recognise and celebrate the significant contributions and achievements of individuals, as well as community groups within the Shire.
The four award categories are Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Group or Event of the Year and Young Sports Person of the Year.
The awards will be given out on Thursday January 23 at the Hugh Kilpatrick Memorial Hall on South Western Highway.
