AFTER qualifying throughout the summer season, Kaiden Richings from Bridgetown Swimming Club competed in the three day state junior meet at Challenge Stadium in Perth.
Competition was high from around the state, but was dominated by Perth city clubs.
Richings turned 10 only five days before the meet and competed in the next age group up.
He won bronze in the 200m backstroke with a time of 2:49.87, smashing his personal best by 6.5 seconds.
He also broke the boys 10 years 200m backstroke country all time record by 9.11 seconds.
He was ranked fourth in state for the 50m backstroke 36.72, 100m backstroke 1:22.04 and 100m freestyle 1:13.11 for boys 10 years.
He also ranked fifth in the state for boys 10 years in 50m butterfly 37.68 and 200m individual medley 2:59.05.
This meet marked the end of the long course season.
After a short pause between seasons, the first short course meet will in Albany in July.
