RON Van Delft, Collie Shire Council’s executive manager of development services over the past two years, died early this week.
Collie Shire Council marked his passing with a minute’s silence at the start of its Tuesday night meeting.
“Ron was an outstanding individual who added significant value to the organisation,” the shire’s chief executive officer Jason Whiteaker, said earlier in the day.
“He will be particularly remembered for his passion for the environment. Ron brought a new skills set to our organisation and his work on the environment, including the Collie River, should be acknowledged — in his short time has had a significant impact on this project.” R
on and his wife Catherine moved to Collie from Perth and “committed to our community, building a home and developing strong friendships”, Mr Whiteaker said.
“Staff and elected members were fortunate to have a farewell at Ron and Catherine’s home two weeks ago – it was a great opportunity to say goodbye.
“Ron had been extremely ill prior to the farewell but was really excited about seeing everyone, so it was a really nice way for everyone to spend a bit of time with him.”
