FREE wireless internet will be available at Soldiers' Park, the skate park and the Collie Visitor Centre within the next three months.
Acting Collie Shire chief executive David Blurton said the new internet would benefit skate park users with wireless access to portable devices, while Bibbulmun Track walkers would be able to access the service from the Visitor Centre.
Mr Blurton said the $20,000 project, recommended by the CBD Revitalisation Committee and endorsed by council, would work alongside other revitalisation initiatives to modernise the CBD and help attract visitors.
"This is a strategy to draw and retain visitors into the Collie CBD which will provide an economic boost for retailers in the CBD," he said.
"As well as the economic benefits, there will be potential opportunities for advertising and public community messaging through the network and it will demonstrate Collie is a modern and vibrant regional centre which aligns with our SuperTowns objectives."
The service is expected to cost about $2500 per year, with the establishment of further network stations to be considered in the future.
