Having represented WA last year in Darwin, Clarke flew out last week to compete against other states on the Gold Coast.
“I was selected after playing in the 16s WAFL carnival for Swan Districts during March and April,” he said.
“I was named in the initial squad of 50 to play in an all-stars game with the best players from each club.
“From there the best 35 were selected to be part of the state academy and eventually the final travelling squad of 25 was named.”
The Bunbury Senior High School student has been playing football for seven years and holds a football scholarship for the South West Academy of Sport.
“This is the second year I have had specific training run by Jamie Douse from the academy,” he said.
The teenager plays as a forward in the state team and has aspirations to make it all the way to the AFL.
The WA team played against the Victorian Metro side at Metricon Stadium on Saturday and the Victorian Country side yesterday.
They will run out for their final game against South Australia on Friday.
“You have to commit a lot if you want to get far in the sport which is what I find the most challenging,” he said.
“I think that the WA side is really strong and if we play our best we could win.”
