She built the walkway about 15 years ago next to the pharmacy to facilitate access for customers and staff. Ms Rose said.
"This walkway is on my property," she said.
"Since it was built, I and some of the recent business owners have maintained this walkway, but over time, the local people have come to consider it a public access way.
"I know the shire, and Mauro Stucco, the current owner of the pharmacy, would like this access way to be available to the public, and want it to be maintained in a fit condition.
"However, I am no longer prepared to maintain this public walkway and do not expect Mr Stucco to do so."
She has made three suggestion for the shire council's consideration.
These are that the shire buy the walkway and the land, taking on the repairs and maintenance of the walkway as needed as a public access way; the walkway is repaired now by Ms Rose, then the shire in a written agreement, takes over the future responsibility of maintenance and repair on the walkway and covers the public liability for the walkway.
Failing acceptance of these suggestions she said the walkway should be closed down permanently.
Bridgetown-Greenbushes Shire executive manager works and services Lindsay Crooks anticipated the issue would be discussed by the council at next week's meeting.
