But he has assured Bunbury audiences that they will enjoy exactly the same show when he arrives at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre on August 14.
Looking through a Glass Onion is an up-close-and-personal two man show which has been described as a homage to the music, mystery and memory of John Lennon.
It’s been a long time since Waters and Stewart D’Arrietta took to a tiny stage at a hotel in Woolloomooloo, Sydney with their debut production, aiming for one week and being forced to extend it to a six-week sell out season.
There’s been no slowing down since then as audiences continue to beg for the return of this part concert, part biography.
“Some people say ‘Oh Lennon, the guy that went crazy and ran off with that Japanese woman’ and this show allows us to explain that there was so much more to him,” Waters told entertainment.
“It’s a noble warts-and-all look at the life of fame and the insults from the press – everyone wanted their cute little Beatles but they really were hard rock and roll, it was only clever marketing that made them pop icons.
“I think what grabs people is the huge emotional thread, people are really moved by this no matter if they were Lennon fans or not.”
He said the show had not changed in essence over the years apart from a new song here or there, but it had reverted to the simplistic acoustic guitar and singer format which he believed made it “all the richer.”
Waters can’t wait to head West to Bunbury, Esperance and Albany and loves the fact that just a couple of weeks after the WA shows he will be on a stage in New York.
“To me when I’m on stage and the room goes dark it doesn’t matter where I am – it’s the same thrill and the same vibe.”
With 31 songs performed including A Day in the Life, Strawberry Fields Forever, Revolution, Lucy In the Sky with Diamonds, Woman, Jealous Guy, Imagine and more, this is a show for all ages.
Looking Through a Glass Onion comes to the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre on August 14.
