The award recognises individual sporting achievement and is awarded to the person who contributed through coaching, umpiring or general promotion of their sport and who represented themselves well within the public arena.
Fifteen junior sports stars were nominated for the prestigious award with seven finalists being shortlisted for the honour.
Seventeen-year-old Rachelle was presented with the award on Wednesday evening which included a cheque for $500, Myles fuel voucher, medallion and perpetual trophy.
The BMX superstar finished fifth in the junior elite class earlier this year, placed third at the UCI BMX Continental Championships and second overall in the six-event National Probikx series.
She also regularly achieved podium finishes whilst competing in the WA State Super Series in the Pro Women’s class.
Runner-up was awarded to hockey player Jake Harvie who received a Myles fuel voucher and 12-month membership to the South West Sports Centre.
Jake competed at a national level as part of the under-15 WA State hockey team and also received a bronze medal for the under-18 WA team which competed in Canberra earlier this year.
He has also competed against international teams finishing with a gold medal as the vice-captain of a South West representative team.
City of Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan congratulated both Rachelle and Jake on their achievements.
“Both teenagers have demonstrated a high level of skill in their chosen sport as well as being role models in the community,” Mr Brennan said.
“I wish the two of them the best of luck in the future."
