BUNBURY homebuyers looking for an affordable option could find their feet in College Grove on the back of a development proposal.
The City of Bunbury has been approached by a developer to build an affordable housing development at Lot 70 Winthrop Avenue in College Grove.
City chief executive officer Andrew Brien said council had been involved in a joint venture on the site for about 10 years.
Mr Brien said they would start the process of the official disposal of the site to allow the development plans to progress.
“Probably 30 odd lots would be developed and we are looking at the affordable housing scheme as part of that process,” Mr Brien said.
A year would be allowed for the assessment of the flora and fauna study, contamination report, scheme amendment results, final ruling on any road works from Main Roads WA and subdivision approval.
Mr Brien said the proposal was expected to go out for public comment next week.
