The 126th annual Bridgetown Show was once again an opportunity for the locals to showcase their talents and their prize livestock and produce.
Sideshow alley entertained the town’s younger generation and there was plenty to see and do for all ages.
Thanks to State Government funding, children and youth up to 16 years of age were eligible for free entry.
Bridgetown Agricultural Society President Ric Wheatley was very happy with the numbers at the show and said it was great to have so much for the young people to do while there.
"The Ag Society has come into the modern age, mainly due to the efforts of the Russell girls, namely Maxine and Calinda," Mr Wheatley said. “They have set up a web page and a Facebook page, so we can now communicate better with the next generation."
Mr Rodney Hester officially opened the show this year and was proud of the family connection to the show, with his Great-Grandfather, Mr Edward Hester, being a member of the inaugural Ag Society Council in 1885. His grandfather and father were also members of the council in the past and Mr Hester was President from 1985-1989.
"It is a pleasure to be involved with such a hard working committee to promote the show and promote Bridgetown," Mr Hester said.
"I would like to congratulate the committee for putting on another great show for this year, and would also like to thank the government for giving us grant money to enable 16 years and under to come to the show for free.
"It really is important to get young people to come to the Bridgetown Show for free, as it may get them more interested in it and to come on the council one day."
Celebrity butcher Vince Garreffa was one of the highlights of the day, when he entertained the crowds with his stories while demonstrating how to get the most out of a side of lamb.
