THE Bridgetown Digital Photography Club (BDPC) hosted an evening presentation at the Bridgetown Show and a full-day workshop at Bridgetown Gardens last weekend with Steve Parish, OAM Photographer, Author, Naturalist and Publisher.
Parish is a renowned nature photographer with more than 50 years experience and has many published books behind him. He inspires and educates many photographers with his well presented sessions.
The Bridgetown Digital Camera club has recently affiliated themselves with the West Australian Photographic Federation Inc, (WAPF) who helped support Parish's visit.
Parish said he was happy to be back in the South West and was amazed by the beauty of Western Australia and in particular Bridgetown.
"I find the West Australian photographic community to be much more unified than in the east because it seems that huge space and large distances don't seem to bother people over here. It has been a pleasure to be here and meet such a lovely group of people."
72 participants booked into the workshop, with interested parties coming from Perth, Rockingham, Boyup Brook and Bridgetown.
BDPC representative Craig White was pleased with the turn out and passionate about the connections Parish was having with Bridgetown and the South West.
"It is great to see people with the same interests get together to share Steve's experiences and passion for taking photos in an environment such as Bridgetown," Mr White said.
"The Bridgetown Digital Photography Club is there for all levels of photographers, from beginners to the more experienced.
"We have wonderful opportunities each month for everyone to get together to share their skills and knowledge and to learn new techniques and skills."
The club meets on the first Wednesday of each month and welcomes all new photographers to come along. An exhibition of some of the club member’s photos will be held at the Bridgetown Community stall on Saturday December 6. For more information contact Jackie Howe on 0414692515.
