BRIDGETOWN swimming club members attended the 2015 Swimming WA SunSmart Country Championships at HBF Stadium from Friday January 9-11.
339 swimmers from 33 country clubs state wide competed at the meet, and there were many close races and great times.
This event is the key swimming meet for swimmers from country clubs.
All Bridgetown swimmers performed well, with many personal bests.
Sinead Elam, 10, obtained state times in 10 year old girls events for 50 m backstroke (45.35) and 50 m butterfly (42.29).
Heidi Elam, 9, came fourth in 9 year old girls 50 m freestyle with a time of 39.92.
“All swimmers performed very well amidst fierce competition and is a credit to their commitment to training and competition,” Coach Graeme Campbell said.
“All swimmers are now back in training in the Manjimup pool preparing for the Harvey Open meet in February, which is always a popular meet for clubs in the South West and Perth.”
Before the Harvey meet, Indyana Seed, 13, will be competing at the State Age Championships at the HBF Stadium.
Meanwhile Bridgetown’s Kaiden Richings, who competes with the Bunbury Swimming Club, left his mark on the Country Championships records book for 10 year old boy’s events.
