CONCERT: Get ready to be bedazzled because there will be a different kind of entertainment in town this weekend.
Imagine feathers, sequins, bright colours and music that will make you want to dance.
Justin Clausen is the lead for the show Queens of Drag City, who will tell a hilarious story that is sure to grab your attention.
Clausen said the costumes were out of this world and producer Warren Stanbridge had been the talent behind crafting the beautiful pieces.
“It is phenomenal what he can do with feathers and sequins,” he said.
“People should be ready to have fun and go on a journey.”
You may develop a deep love for the characters no matter what age you are because there are elements of the show that will resonate with everyone.
Clausen is no stranger to the stage, with a plethora of experience behind him as a trained actor in New York.
His jazz show experience has also helped him in being able to incorporate song and dance into his shows.
To capture the essence of his character and to be comfortable performing on stage in heels Clausen made sure he had lots of practice.
“I spent a month cleaning the house in my eight inch stilettos,” he said.
“I made sure all the curtains were closed so the neighbours couldn’t look in and see what I was up to, oh the things that go on behind closed doors.”
He started writing the show with producer, creator, choreographer and performer Simon Vowles in June last year.
With the help from his friend Jamie Burgess who is a brilliant comedy writer, their combined efforts working seven days a week has certainly paid off.
Clausen refers to them as the terrible trio and said it was great to be able to work on the same show together.
They have never been to Western Australia and they are excited to venture to this side of the country.
“I love exploring places I haven’t seen before,” he said.
“Audiences are often open to what we have to offer and it is just nice being in a smaller town sometimes.”
With a large spectrum of songs including Madonna, Kehe Sanh, Whitney Housten and Cher, there is something that everyone will recognise.
They plan on transporting the audience for the two hours and invite them to sit back, relax and enjoy the show.
