BRIDGETOWN swimming pool is still on track to be completed for the 2015/2016 summer season following the endorsement of the design plans that were prepared by the contractor.
The plans were received by the Bridgetown-Greenbushes Shire on Tuesday 24th February 2015 and approved on Thursday February 26 at the Ordinary Council Meeting.
The designs have been engineered to meet Health Department Code of Practice for the Design, Operation, Management and Maintenance of Aquatic Facilities.
Bridgetown Greenbushes Shire President Tony Pratico said he was pleased to be able to share with the community the ongoing progress of the swimming pool.
"This is what people in our community have been waiting for," Cr Pratico said. "We get a lot of questions from many members in our community and it is good to be able to show that we are going ahead as planned.
"We gave Safeway a concept of what we wanted, being that it had to be 25 metres long, a leisure pool and integrated into the recreation centre. The plan has come back and we are very happy with it.
"This has been approved by council and they can really move forward now."
Bridgetown Greenbushes Shire CEO Tim Clynch was also pleased to have the plans approved.
"It is obviously an important stage of the project," Mr Clynch said. "There has been a fair bit of activity on the site in the past few days. It has really ramped up so things are happening, which is great to see.
"The plans are very detailed and there has been a lot of work behind the scene that people wouldn't have been able to see. It is a big step in the right direction and the contractor is still saying that the project will be met on deadline."
Mr Clynch said the plans would be in the Town Library on Wednesday March 4 for public viewing.
