Commissioner O'Callaghan will be answering questions from the public about road safety and the 2015 Easter police campaign Operation Crossroads in a live chat at 2pm on Wednesday April 1 on our website http://www.donnybrookmail.com.au/.
Last year 184 lives were lost on WA roads, and 102 in regional areas, the highest number in four years. This year Fairfax WA, the publisher of the Donnybrook-Bridgetown Mail, is running a road safety campaign called Arrive Alive to help to try and reduce the road toll.
Throughout the year we have been publishing stories about road safety in our newspaper and on our website. We hope that together we can increase the amount of people arriving alive to their destination in 2015.
Mr O’Callaghan joined the police force after he finished high school and graduated as Dux of his police academy class in 1976.
During his many years in the police force Mr O’Callaghan has spent time in the Manjimup Traffic office and the Perth Traffic Branch before being promoted to Police Commissioner in 2004.
