The plan, which identifies operating and capital projects over the next four years while still allowing for the flexibility to move with changing times, was adopted at Tuesday night’s council meeting.
The plan is designed to ensure that listed projects reflect current council priorities and anticipated funding availability.
Key aspects of the plan outline affordable and modest rate increases, nil growth in staffing, the gradual increase in funding for asset management, an increase in reserve funding, and the proceeds from the sale of assets to be used for debt reduction and or acquiring new assets.
The forecasts contained in the plan for 2015/16 will be used as a basis for producing the draft annual budget for 2015/16.
City of Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan said the plan is an aspirational document and it reflects the current approach of council.
“This is a strategic document and it is important to note that it has the flexibility to take on changes that are driven either externally or internally,” Mr Brennan said.
“The core purpose of this plan is to activate the objectives outlined in the recently adopted Strategic Community Plan, which ensures Bunbury continues to thrive as a vibrant and diverse place to live and do business.”
