THE Harvey Health Service is a step closer to a $13 million revitalisation with a shortlist of builders for the project expected next month.
Health Minister Kim Hames said investment in infrastructure and equipment upgrades was important to meet the growing demand for specialist services and community-based health care in regional Western Australia.
“Once complete, the redeveloped Harvey site will have better community-based health services, improved outpatient facilities and a dedicated clinic for general practitioners,” Dr Hames said.
“Residents of Harvey and surrounding areas will have access to a wide range of services on a single site, bringing increased efficiency, shorter waiting times and better continuity of care.”
The redevelopment is part of the state government’s $7 billion hospital building, expansion and refurbishment program.
Dr Hames said the redevelopment of Harvey Health Service would also include a new emergency department linked to the inpatient ward via a procedure room, relocation and refurbishment of pathology services and modernisation of the main hospital entrance.
A shortlist of builders for the Harvey Health Service upgrade project is expected in June and the construction contract is expected to be awarded in September.
The development to hospital infrastructure and equipment upgrades is expected to begin in October and will be due for completion in early 2017.
