SPECIAL Crime Squad detectives have notified a 59-year-old man that a Perth court has issued a warrant for his arrest over the alleged wilful murder of 17-year-old Hayley Marie Dodd.
It will be alleged that the man abducted Hayley as she was walking along North West Road, Badgingarra, on July 29, 1999.
It is further alleged he murdered her and disposed of her body.
The charge follows a review and investigation conducted by the Special Crime Squad.
This investigation was referred to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for its consideration in February, and advice was received in support of criminal court proceedings.
Preparations will commence with a view to prosecute the man in a Western Australian court.
This follows reports of cold case officers working for two years to gather evidence in the case.
Hayley waas just four months shy of her 18th birthday when she vanished.One of five children, she had a close relationship with her family, but was known to be shy around strangers.
Hayley and a friend travelled to Dongara on July 22 with the intention of staying there and working for a while.
The day Hayley went missing, she made the decision to catch up with family friends on their farm between Badgingarra and Moora.
She never reached her destination.
