DONNYBROOK Apple Festival Committee recently hosted the South West Group of Affiliated Agriculture Associations judging for the Rural Ambassador Competition.
The winner was Kirstin Waller, nominated by the Waroona Agricultural Society.
Ms Waller will now represent the South West Group as Rural Ambassador and go forward for judging in The Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia Rural Ambassador Award 2015. This award is announced during the Perth Royal Show in September.
Ms Waller has an interest in horses, competes in eventing, and is training a young horse in dressage. The South West Group wish Kirstin best of luck in the state finals.
A very worthy runner-up was Hayden Harries, nominated by the Upper Blackwood Show Society.
Mr Harries is a hands-on farmer with an interest in breeding sheep dogs and competing in sheep dog trials.
The Rural Ambassador competition is run each year under the auspices of the Royal Agricultural Society. Each regional group works towards sending a young rural candidate to the state competition. This competition is open for entrants between the ages of 20 and 30, male and female, with an interest in all things rural.
Anyone interested in competing can contact their local Agricultural Society for entry details.
