Local BMX superstar and Olympic rider Lauren Reynolds is ready to tackle one of the biggest events of her calendar.
The 2015 UCI BMX World Championships begin Wednesday in Belgium and Reynolds told the Bunbury Mail she is prepared for a big showing.
“I’m pretty anxious to just get out there and get riding,” she said.
“I’ve set the bar quite high for myself and can’t wait to compete.”
Reynolds has been racing well in recent times, claiming a win in the overall Australian series championship and training hard in the USA.
She recently wrote in her monthly column with the Bunbury Mail, Keeping Track, she now has a sense of self-belief which has eluded her in previous races.
It’s hard to argue with Reynolds, as her form in recent races has been stellar.
Reynolds credited her training regime and partners for her solid streak.
“Most of the people I train with are former world champions, so the expectations and intensity levels are really high each time I step on the track,” she said.
“It really pushes you to just keep doing the best you can and make sure you use every bit of energy you can.”
Reynolds said her preparation for the tournament had run smoothly, and that she was confident she would perform well once the gates open.
“Everything has gone really well prior to the World Champs, I’m pretty excited to make a dash at it,” she said.
“Winning the domestic Australia series helped me build a lot of confidence.”
The championships will be held at Circuit Zolder, Belgium.
