HARVEY resident Jordan Fimmano was lying in bed checking his phone when he thought he’d heard an explosion outside.

Little did he know that the South West town had just been shaken by a 3.2 magnitude earthquake.
Mr Fimmano lives on Harvey’s main street, Uduc Road, not far from major abattoir Harvey Beef.
“I assumed something had gone really wrong at Harvey Beef and thought there was a huge explosion or something,” he said.
“When it stopped I went outside to check what was going on and couldn’t see anything out of the ordinary.
“Then I went back inside and checked Facebook and a local Harvey page said it was an earthquake – I’d never even considered that.”
Mr Fimmano described the earthquake as a rumbling, thunder sound.
“It was just this really weird vibration that you could sort of feel through your whole body,” he said.
“It didn’t seem heavy enough to do any damage but it was pretty alarming – you never expect anything like that to happen in Harvey.”
The epicentre of the quake was centred south east of Harvey and it struck at about 12.30am.
Geosciences Australia estimated it could have been felt by people up to 28km away.
Residents from Harvey, Collie and the surrounding areas reported feeling the ground shake for several seconds while residents in other areas reported hearing a large rumbling noise.
Carol Carlisle posted on the Perth Weather Live Facebook Page: “Yep, thought my roof was going to come off - house shaking was very eerie in Harvey.”
While Sammy Brockliss made the following comment: "I'm in dawesville, didnt feel anything but heard a rumbling noise that i thought was thunder roughly about half past 12, it was very loud."
