THE driver of a car involved in a fatal crash in Australind on Thursday night did everything they could to help the victim before emergency services arrived at the scene.
Police said a white Nissan Navara was travelling west along Paris Road, near the intersection of Break O’Day Drive, just before 7pm when a 15-year-old boy on his skateboard rode out of a driveway on to the street and collided with the car.
St John Ambulance rushed to the scene and took him to Bunbury Regional Hospital where he was then airlifted to Perth.
However, sadly the boy later passed away in hospital as a result of his injuries.
South West traffic Sergeant Rob Malcolm said police had spoken to the driver who frantically tried to help the stricken teenager.
"The driver got out of the vehicle and attempted to perform CPR on the boy," he said.
Police are continuing their investigation into the incident however told the Bunbury Mail the teenager was not wearing a helmet when he was hit.
Police would like to speak to anyone who has information regarding this crash or who saw the pedestrian or vehicle involved prior to the crash.
