Carey Park had not lost a game all season but Eaton booted the last four goals of the game to win the flag in thrilling fashion with the final score reading 14.12.96 to 15.11.101.
The Panthers had been in control for most of the game, keeping Eaton at bay whenever the Boomers launched an assault on the lead.
But Eaton’s fitness shone out in the end which allowed Josh Kelly to kick the match-winning goal.
The first quarter began with Eaton gaining most of the momentum with goals to Greg Parry and Nathan Hill.
But the Panthers wrestled possession from the Boomers through efforts from Sam Colvin, Travis Humphries and James Wallam.
However, a late goal to Cameron Bennell put the Boomers in front at the end of the first.
Carey Park dominated most of the second quarter with Chris McMillan and Donald Turvey moving well around the ground and delivering the ball forward.
Their efforts resulted in goals for Glen Garlett, Colvin and Michael McGarry.
