MARY Hollins is the first person to become a life member of the Collie Eagles Junior Football Club.
The club’s annual sponsors and helpers evening also saw 11 life members from founding club Collie and Mines Rovers added to the list.
Mrs Hollins said she was surprised to be presented with the award.
“I did not see that coming,” she said.
“I just wanted to help out my son’s footy team - you don’t do it for the accolades.
“It’s very humbling, there are great bunch of volunteers at the club and they all deserve recognition.”
Mrs Hollins’ son started playing when he was in Year 1, 12 years ago.
“I took on the role of team coordinator when he was in the Year 3/4 team and then the 5/6 team,” she said.
“I also served as a committee member and registrar for 5 years and team manager for my sons travelling team for two years.”
President Matt Hislop said it was a very special night for the club.
“Mary was a constant source of great information for people around the club,” he said.
“She was always willing to help and the award is recognition of her longevity and contribution to the club.”
