A LARGE crowd enjoyed listening to the story behind the making of 'The Woodland Whiskers' at the Bridgetown-Greenbushes Library last week, when Bridgetown artist Gabriel Evans shared the joys of being an artist and creator at his latest book release.
The Woodland Whiskers is the third book in a series by Evans. Based on the classic "The Elves and the shoemaker," the book shares the tale of the Woodland mice who lost their home following a storm.
The Woodland Whiskers' house is flooded and it looks like the worst Christmas ever. Luckily Grandpa Squeak is able to find a way to survive that will ensure young readers come back to read the book again and again.
Bridgetown-Greenbushes Library Manager Kathy Mathews said it was a pleasure that Evans decided to launch his latest book at the library and she wished him every success with it.
"I would like to thank Gabriel for choosing the Bridgetown-Greenbushes Library for his book launch," Ms Mathews said. "We are very proud of the fact that he is doing so well and as a local lad we all feel that we have a little bit of ownership of him."
Mr Evans entertained the audience with his antics about the creation of the book before announcing the winners of the children's colouring in competition with Jack Sparks winning, followed very closely by Laura Streeter and Austin McCay, who both received high distinctions.
