Last year’s winner Ian Bushell said there was no magic secret to success.
“Each year I try to do something different,” he said.
“I just do it to get into the Christmas spirit and for the kids.”
There are three main categories: First Prize winner gets $500, while Best Original Entry and Best First Time Entry win $250 each.
Mr Bushell said he didn’t do it for the accolades.
“It’s about getting into the holiday spirit and bringing some joy to your community,” he said.
“My best tip to people doing up their house – use your imagination.”
Despite using more than 100 sets of lighting, he isn’t swamped with a massive electricity bill either.
“I use LED lighting so they are cheap to run and I have solar panels installed, so my yearly bill is almost zero.”
Judging for the competition will be on December 17, with the winners announced on December 24.
