THIS weekend is a busy time at Bunbury Regional Art Galleries, with two free public artist talks to be held on Saturday and Sunday.
On Sunday April 2 at 2pm Dr Vahri McKenzie will discuss her new work Only the Envelope, now exhibited in BRAG’s archive room.
Dr McKenzie will be accompanied by her enigmatic research assistant Svetlana, to shed some light on her fascinating interactive installation which invites viewers to have their eye movementscaptured while watching a short film.
The work is a playful exploration on the potential implications of the federal government’s proposed data retention laws.
Then on Sunday April 3 at 2pm, renowned South-West artist Susan Ecker will treat audiences to a floor talk discussing her new solo show Elemental Space/Elusive Place.
Ecker is a New York born artist who now calls the South West home.
Her ethereal paintings explore the intangible qualities which define a sense of place, aiming to capture a sense of understanding in a foreign landscape through light, texture, colour and temperature.
Everyone is welcome to attend these free events. No registration is required, and public inquiries can be directed to the gallery on 9792 7323.
