THE Withers Progress Association have put out a desperate cry for younger members amid fears their annual Christmas party in Des Ugle Park could be cancelled.
Ms Dunlop said the with the current group of volunteers aging it was imperative youth stepped forward.
“I know the community love the event because there’s a lot of entertainment, but the fact is it’s a lot of work to organise and if the community want it we’re going to need younger people to get involved.”
Chairman of the Withers Advisory Committee James Hayward said young people should be using this as an opportunity to have their voice heard.
“Youth always bring energy and a fantastic dynamic and they should use it as an opportunity to make their community better,” he said.
“You do not need to be a superhero, you just need to put your hand up and get involved.”
The WPA is holding a meeting on May 12 at the Hudson Road Family Centre, Ms Dunlop encourages anyone interested in volunteering to come along.
