In a Bunbury first, Sumo Salad are set to offer free lunch deliveries to customers in the CBD.
Store owner Daniel Macnish devised the plan after chatting to other businesses in Victoria Street.
“When I asked staff in some of the retail stores if they have popped in for lunch, some of them said they just don’t get enough time,” he said.
“So I said ‘right, I’ll come to you then’.”
Mr Macnish said the free service launches in a fortnight with three bikes eventually doing the rounds.
The bikes have been specially modified to carry and keep the salads fresh and carry a built-in EFTPOS terminal.
Mr Macnish hopes the development will build on the Fremantle or Melbourne café vibe of Bunbury.
He will also be offering delivery loyalty cards, with each fifth salad free.
“The Sumo Salad executives in the eastern states are really interested to see how this goes and whether they should explore doing it in other locations,” he said.
