COLLIE was on show last week when the South32 Worsley Alumina Community Liaison Committee went on a walking tour of recent town site improvements.
The tour included the Collie pool where a $4 million upgrade was recently completed; the new $3 million Collie Early Learning Centre; the new and popular Collie skate park; Central Park, the railway stock shed and Men’s Shed in heart of the central business district; and the nearby Collie Art Gallery.
Collie Shire’s representative on the committee, executive manager of corporate services Allison Fergie, provided details about the work done to date as well as ongoing efforts to improve the amenity of Collie and broaden its economic base.
Worsley Community Liaison Committee chairperson Rosanne Pimm said the group, which takes in representatives from across the Collie and Greater Bunbury communities, thoroughly enjoyed the tour and was impressed with what achieved to date.
“Collie should be very proud of what it has achieved in recent years and the direction in which it is heading,” Mrs Pimm said.
Worsley’s Community Liaison Committee is the main conduit of information between the integrated bauxite miner and alumina producer and the community. Membership includes representatives from local government, relevant government agencies, business and industry and the broader community.
Nominations to join the committee are now open.
