Men's soccer: IT was a long weekend of travelling for Collie Men’s as they took on Dalyellup in the first round of the South West Cup on Sunday, then Capel Wolves in rainy conditions in a league encounter on Monday. Sunday's game saw them run out 10-0 winners with some beautiful football on show. The lads were able to follow this effort up with another victory the next day in Capel. A dominant first half performance saw another two goals from B. Malatesta, with R. Milligan and J. Duricic adding one each. Fatigue set in during the second half which allowed Capel a goal, however Collie was able to see out a 4-1 win. This ensures they stay in second on the league ladder.
Women's soccer: COLLIE travelled to Busselton on Monday to take on the league leaders. The first half saw Collie pick up where they left off last week in Manjimup with J. Smith scoring twice. K. Thomson appeared to have added a third from a corner, however it was disallowed as the ball had already gone out of play. The second half saw Busselton fight back with two goals to even up the scoreline, but J. Smith was able to put Collie up once again with another two strikes. Collie's defense then stood strong for the rest of the match which ended up 4-2. A huge scalp for Collie handing Busselton just their second loss of the campaign, which puts Collie in sixth position.
