Donnybrook's David Fishlock has confirmed his bid for the seat of Forrest, campaigning for minority group the Outdoor Recreation Party.
Mr Fishlock said his party are committed to less government control over outdoor recreation.
"We want to see everyone getting outside to enjoy the environment without harsh restrictions being imposed on them," he said.
The group's website said the party believe public land should be accessible for recreational purposes and actively managed, not locked up and neglected.
The group support the preservation of environmental values and "aim to counter the political influence of groups (such as the Greens) that seek to limit public land access to a privileged few".
By day, Mr Fishlock is a forklift operator for Wespine and said he enjoys fishing and camping in his free time.
Mr Fishlock ran for the senate in 2013 with this his first attempt to win a house of representatives seat.
"My campaign is going well so far, people seem interested in what we have to say," he said.
"A lot of the people I've spoken to are feeling forgotten about by the three major parties."
The father of five said he is not daunted by the thought of representing the region in Canberra if elected.
