COLLIE men’s and women’s sides travelled to Dalyellup, both looking to back up the previous weekend’s victories.
The hosts fielded a strong team and were able to take an early lead against Collie men’s, however B. Malatesta and R. Colombera were on hand to give the visitors a 2-1 advantage at half-time.
Collie pressed on in the second half and with two more from Malatesta, he claimed his hat trick.
A defensive error allowed Dalyellup to score a second, but the three-goal margin was restored minutes later by a wonderful diving header from R. Milligan.
A late penalty for the hosts was saved magnificently by keeper L. Bessa to end the match at 5-2 to the Power.
This win sees Collie go top of the table, three points clear after results were favourable elsewhere.
The women’s team were looking to follow up their victory at home with another win on the road.
The game started as an arm wrestle between the two sides.
A resolute defence dealt with all problems and this was the base for successful counter attacks that saw top scorer J. Smith find the back of the net twice.
Half-time score was 2-0 to Collie. After the break, S. Vansnick was able to make it 3-0 and in the final 10 minutes of the game, a penalty was awarded against Collie. Although E. Sutherland was able to dive the right way, the ball was sent wide.
Final score 3-0 to Collie.
