THE Nationals WA have announced small business owner and local government councillor Monique Warnock will take up the fight for the families, businesses and communities of Collie-Preston at the 2017 State election.
Ms Warnock was officially endorsed as the candidate for Collie-Preston by The Nationals WA state council on Saturday, August 13.
“I’m excited to be part of The Nationals WA team that is delivering Royalties for Regions,” Ms Warnock said.
“The people of Collie-Preston can be assured that I’ll be putting in the hard work on the campaign trail to ensure the issues that are important to our region are on the agenda in state parliament.”
Ms Warnock said job creation for the region would be a major focus of her campaign, and The Nationals WA are the only party with a plan for the state’s economic future.
“We’ve announced a suite of policy initiatives aimed at creating a new revenue stream for the state, returning the state budget to surplus, and stimulating the economy through the creation of new jobs, asset recycling and the reduction of payroll tax,” Ms Warnock said.
“Our strategy around asset recycling, where 100 per cent of proceeds from asset sales will be invested into new infrastructure, will mean new projects and new jobs for Collie-Preston.”
Leader of The Nationals WA Brendon Grylls said Ms Warnock was a strong candidate and would fight hard for the people of Collie-Preston.
“Monique is a strong community member with a solid track record of delivering and driving key projects in the region, such as the Bunbury Waterfront, which is now underway,” Mr Grylls said.
“Monique and The Nationals WA team will continue to deliver Royalties for Regions alongside a new plan to extend the Dampier to Bunbury gas pipeline to attract industry to the region and create jobs."
A former regional journalist, Ms Warnock has also worked in public relations for BHP Billiton Worsley Alumina, as a federal government media adviser, and has experience working in public relations in the UK.
She currently runs her own public relations company, Big Fish Media and Events, and is a City of Bunbury Councillor.
