A WAROONA local is on the lookout for clues regarding her family history and its relation to Collie.
Raechelle De Campo, whose family is formerly from Collie, is currently searching for the identity of a male cousin who tried to make contact with one of her relatives in Perth in the late 1980s.
According to Mrs De Campo, the cousin may have been born in the late 1960s in Collie to a young mother who likely tried to keep her pregnancy a secret.
Mrs De Campo said she had recently reached out to social media for clues from people in the town.
“A lack of resources in being able to locate at least an identity when things like Births, Deaths and [Marriages] Registrars wont provide the information unless you’re an actual lineal relative,” she said.
“I would have to be a sister to find out, but because I’m a cousin I’m too remote.”
Mrs De Campo said she explored numerous avenues before reaching out to citizens of Collie and the South West.
“Learning how to go about finding relatives, so that includes Facebook pages and making enquiries through Births, Deaths and [Marriages] Registrars which has gone nowhere for me,” she said.
“Other relatives are reluctant to assist in the location process for whatever their personal reasons are, I don’t know.”
Mrs De Campo said she wanted to get to know, and share stories with, a new family member.
“This is my personal journey, I know that I have someone out there and I would like to know him, I would like to know what he has been doing all his life, to let him know this is his family history, this is what I know about our family history and to share it with him,” she said.
“It would be lovely to have another family member.”
