Things are starting to heat up as the Blues at Bridgetown Festival is getting closer, with the first artist announcement just confirmed for the big weekend.
Blues At Bridgetown is a non-profit community association that has been producing an annual music festival since 1993. Held on the second week of November each year, the three-day festival showcases blues and roots musicians, attracting visitors from across the state, interstate and overseas.
WA’s longest-running blues festival will this year showcase a cool and diverse line-up featuring the old, the new, the now and the zen, headed up by master singer/songwriter/guitarist Chris Cain from the USA, once hailed as the “future of the blues” by John Orr from the San Jose Mercury newspaper.
Dave Hole remains a blues great not only in his home state of WA, but all around the world. Dave’s festival appearances are becoming a rare gift to blues fans these days, so don’t miss this opportunity to see him carve it up live.
Australian rock band Stonefield will return to Bridgetown fresh with a top 20 ARIA album chart debut for their second album As Above, So Below. Sisters Amy, Hannah, Sarah, and Holly Finlay from Victoria have been kept busy since their last visit to Bridgetown and will definitely be a band to watch.
Festival favourites and two-time Blues at Bridgetown People’s Choice Award winners 19-Twenty from NSW will be returning to share their energetic mix of blues, folk and rock shenanigans.
Allensworth from the USA will bring their “Cali-Coastal Soul Music” to the festival, armed with a recently released third studio album Slow Fade. Jamie Allensworth and percussionist Anthony Gonzalez will be joined by Australian musical guests Guy Anderton on drums, Tracy Stephens on bass, and Scott French on guitar.
Other bands performing at the Blue Owl’s Nest, Festival Club and Geegelup venues will be The Southern River Band (WA), Chase The Sun (NSW), Cass Eager and The Velvet Rope (NSW), Juzzie Smith (NSW), Claude Hay (NSW), MattyTWall (WA) and Luke Escombe (NSW), plus many more soon to be announced.
