While some could argue those living in Yarloop have seen enough fire to last a lifetime, the sight of trailer loads of firewood being generously donated to those rebuilding has been a welcome relief during cold mornings.
Harvey’s Steve Davis, who works for the Forest Product’s Commission, has partnered with Jeff Loton from Plantation Logging Co. to produce 25 tonnes of dried firewood for the St Vincent de Paul society.

“This wood has been salvaged from a harvest and donated to the recovery centre in Harvey via St Vincent de Paul to help light household fires in Yarloop over winter,” Mr Davis said.
“We’ve helped to make the first deliveries and it’s nice to see the people of Yarloop getting back on their feet.

Mr Davis said the firewood was left over from logs prepared for an timber auction in Harvey on Saturday which gave wood enthusiasts the chance to bid on new supplies.
