Caravana Sun consists of four buddies who simply enjoy making music together.
The band will play at The Cidery in Bridgetown on October 5.
The live shows is part of a 22-date nationwide tour, straight off the back of a massive European tour and with a new album in toe.
The new single – Open Up – follows the recent airplay success of the previous single – Eye Of The Storm – which picked up radio rotation across the nation.
Open Up will set up the forthcoming third album Guerrilla Club, which was released on September 2.
The bandmates, who know each another from high school in Sydney, have performed in Bridgetown several times since the band’s formation in 2010.
Drummer Alex Dumbrell said their style of music was a mixed bag.
“It is a strange collective mix – it’s surf rock, reggae,” he said.
“We’ve never really fitted well into genres with the four of us having different tastes in music, that ultimately we all bring together.”
Dumbrell used to play at the Blues at Bridgetown Festival years ago with band guitarist Luke Carra.
“We’ve been coming here once or twice a year for a few years now. We have a good affinity [with Bridgetown].”
“We love hanging out on the river. The Cidery has always been super supportive venue over the years to give us a crack.”
The Cidery’s vibe suited the band, he said.
“I’m pretty pumped to come and see the community garden and help out there.”
Dumbrell said Open Up was written in Cygnet Bay.
“It was inspired from the west coast, we have a real connection with the west.
“It was just an awesome experience just feel connectiveness and learn, just blown away really the sense of community and inclusion. It’s been awesome.”
The new track is about “opening up to the beautiful Indigenous culture we have here in Australia”.
“Open Up is about our experiences and what it means to be an Australian, which has been a bit skewed.”
People would often comment on the group’s collective vibe, he said.
“We have spent heaps of time in the van together, out on the water together. We really get along, it helps on stage with the performance.
“As fellas we all love the ocean, that’s a common thing – we love connecting with nature and being around Australia.”
He said the gig would be “one of joy and hardcore groove”.
“We are really pumped to get to Bridgetown again.”
