Familiar Bunbury face Maree Grayden will be exploring these as part of the Old Mill Theatre’s latest stage show offering in Honour.
Written by Joanna Murray-Smith and directed by Dale James, Honour follows a couple’s exhausting, confronting, tender and poignant journey through life and love.
George and Honor have been married for 32 years with a perfect understanding of each other.
But then a beautiful female journalist, sent to profile columnist George, methodically sets out to challenge that understanding.
And George suddenly has eyes for someone else.
Produced in more than 35 countries, including productions on Broadway and at London’s Royal National Theatre in London Honour is an award winning production.
With a 25-year background as a performer and drama teacher, Grayden created the Centre Stage South West Academy of Dramatic Arts in Bunbury and has appeared with the Old Mill, Melville, Groovy Boots, Stirling and KADS Theatres, Graduate Dramatic Society and Tempest Productions.
She also has various acting awards to her credit from the South West Drama Festival, Dramafest and Milly Awards.
“Honour interested me because I love the writing and the humour Joanna Murray-Smith finds in the situation and the way the all-too-familiar storyline plays out in its own refreshing way,” Grayden said
Director Dale James said Honour appealed because she admired Murray-Smith’s writing and use of words.
“It’s a play about the eternal triangle and the respect, sense of duty and comfort between a couple who have been married for 32 years – what is it worth?,” Ms James said.
Honour plays at 8pm October 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21 and 22 with 2pm matinees October 9 and 16. Tickets can be found at oldmilltheatre.com.au/tickets or on 9367 8719.
