The team won their first six games of the season before losing three in a row.
The team then won their final three games before reaching a place in the finals.
The team clinched second spot on the league ladder after Round 14 with 36 points.
Zac Pilatti was the league's highest goal scorer with 27, Jack Ugle was close behind in fourth place with 15.
The team, after losing to Marist in the first round of the finals, defeated Donnybrook Year 7 4.4 (28) to 3.3 (21) to advance to the premiership decider.
The team went down to Marist in the grand final on Saturday, September 17.
Collie Junior Eagles Football Club registrar Aaron Worlley said the group began with strong numbers early in the season and were assisted by coach Peter Bellden.
"They really respect him, he's a very calm sort of bloke, communicates well and knows how to talk to kids that age and they definitely respect him quite well," he said.
Mr Bellden said the team had banded together and made commendable progress throughout the year.
"At the start of the season I thought we would be middle of the pack, I didn't think we'd go as well as we did," he said.
Mr Bellden said he had worked with and gotten to know many of the players over the past two to three years.
He said the Year 7 teams training sessions focused on core skills including kicking, marking and positional play.
Mr Worlley said the team hopes to continue their success through next year's training and competition.
"It's about always keeping improving all the time, building on what they've done this year and what the coaches tell them to do and they should naturally improve," he said.
