A Collie resident required surgery after slicing his right foot open in knee-deep water at Sandy Beach.
Tyler Giles, accompanied by his friends and dogs, had all of his nerves and multiple tendons in the foot sliced by glass on Tuesday, October 11.
The glass has also indented bones in his foot.
His friend, Ben Hingston, drove him to Collie District Hospital for treatment.
He was then taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital in Perth, where orthopedic and plastic surgeons operated to fix the damage.
Mr Giles said people travelling to Minninup Pool and Sandy Beach should remain cautious and pick up all rubbish in the area.
“It would be wise to take your own rubbish home and also be mindful. maybe don’t run in like I did,” he said.
“I couldn’t believe it, we had been there many times before so it wasn’t like the first time I had been there or anything.
“Be mindful if you can’t see the ground.”
Mr Giles is set to have his stitches removed next week.
He will spend eight weeks with his foot in a cast before rehabilitation can begin.
He is not expected to work again until mid-January 2017.
He said his mother, Denise Giles, collected two garbage bags’ worth of glass after returning to the area to clean up.
