Bunbury artist Andrew Frazer has started work on an interactive Christmas art piece for the public at the Freedom Bunbury store.
Mr Frazer is the founder and creative director of Six Two Three Zero and Re.Discover and is the artist responsible for many of the murals around Bunbury.
As a designer and artist, he is known for igniting the imagination through his thought-provoking characters and narrative-based art.
He will be creating nice moments for customers, who will be able to watch a local artist live in store painting Australian Christmas themes and interactive art. The large-scale mural will measure 2.5 by 12 metres.
Mr Frazer has encouraged Bunbury people to come down, say hi, see the artwork in progress, and take photos.
He said he aimed to create a delicate, classic Christmas aesthetic, with interactive elements for the public to get involved with.
“The design for Freedom has quite a strong illustrative influence,” Mr Frazer said.
“The design is narrative based - there’s always a story. My hope is that people will take time out of their busy day, pause to enjoy art for art’s sake, and celebrate what Freedom offers in quality and furniture.
“If you are coming down or thinking about it, this is a great opportunity to see live art happening in the store.
“I’d love to say g’day and meet some new faces. Thanks to Freedom for the opportunity, and props to them for engaging with the local art industry.”
The three days of creating art with coincide with Freedom’s Black Friday sale. Then on Saturday, November 26, Headspace – one of Freedom Bunbury’s Community Matters beneficiaries - will round out a big week for Freedom by hosting a barbecue to raise money for their work in increasing awareness of mental health issues.
