The Nannup Community Kitchen has a new look and feel after its project reached completion last week.
Nannup Bowling Club received more than $17,000 earlier this year to upgrade the kitchen, as a share in the Royalties for Regions Community Chest Fund.
Maggie Longmore, volunteer and project leader, said the revamp of the 16-year-old kitchen was much needed.
“The only things we kept from the original kitchen were the microwave, the stove, and the stainless steel bench,” she said.
The community kitchen has run every Tuesday for the past three years from 5pm to 6.30pm, providing low-cost meals for locals.
It was only out of action for two weeks; in that time it continued to run its weekly meal service out of the Nannup Hotel kitchen.
The project work was carried out by volunteers, and local tradesmen gave discounts towards the cause.
