The latest product from Lenah Game Meats is causing quite the stir.
It’s less about cuts of loin, and more about loin clothes: it’s a wallaby fur g-string.
Cheekily dubbed the “little map of Tassie”, Lenah’s Katrina Kelly said the idea for the product came from friend Susie Aulich.
“It’s a quirky little Tasmanian fashion,” Mrs Kelly said.
The company launched the product at the start of last week, and Mrs Kelly said she had been surprised by its immediate popularity.
Lined up on the floor of Mrs Kelly’s office were packages of knickers, ordered, and ready to be sent out into the world.
It is not the company’s first fur-ray into wearable wallabies.
Through a third party of Richard Ellis, they make socks, gloves, vests, stubby holders, inner soles, blankets, and hot water bottle covers.
“We don’t want any waste,” Mrs Kelly said.
“An animal has already died (for meat) so we want to make sure we use the whole animal.”
Lenah Game Meat’s edible and wearable products are available online or from its outlet on George Town Road, Rocherlea, Tasmania.
