Investigators marked, photographed and measured the road for the crash reconstruction process – showing the path the vehicle had taken.
Collie Police officers also interviewed witnesses and blocked off roads around the scene at the time.
Collie Police Senior Sergeant Mike Dean said the investigation was currently underway with Major Crash Investigators in attendance and the alleged driver was at the police station assisting with inquiries.
“It’s a tragedy that Collie didn’t need and the families are going to need a lot of local support in the coming days,” he said.
South West Traffic officers are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Collie just after midnight this morning, Friday 14 April 2017.
A Holden Colorado utility with four male occupants all from Collie was travelling south along Mungalup Road when the vehicle left the road and collided with a tree.
One rear passenger, an 18 year old man died at the scene from injuries received in the crash.
A second rear passenger, a 19 year old man received serious injuries and was airlifted by the RAC Rescue Helicopter to Royal Perth Hospital.
A 20 year old man who was a front passenger in the vehicle was taken by ambulance to Collie Hospital for treatment for serious injuries.
The 19 year old driver was not injured in the crash. Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the crash or the Holden Colorado prior to the crash.
Mungalup Road is still closed this morning with police present on scene.
The vehicle involved in the crash is still also at the scene.
The crash is the first fatality in WA for the Easter long weekend.
