The Country Coastal Junior Soccer Association 2017 season launched on Saturday with an exciting change.
For the first time, a girls only competition has been established for under 10s, under 13s and under 16s.
Over 100 girls played their first fixture of the season at Leschenault Recreation Grounds and for many it was their first ever soccer game.
Association president Pip Shepherd said she was very pleased with the support from the 10 clubs that make up the association, five of which have entered girls teams. “It’s wonderful to see increased participation for females and more opportunities for them to enjoy their chosen sport,” she said.
