Fremantle musician Elli Schoen is preparing to bring her unique and raw sound to Bunbury for a cosy winter Good Nights show at the Red Mill Store.
Schoen will play the intimate local gig on Friday, June 16 for her first Good Nights appearance.
The young, emerging act is a promising depiction of the Fremantle music scene, drawing on personal experiences of love and heartbreak to craft beautiful songs executed with her powerhouse husky voice.
Splicing her shows with a bit of on-stage banter, Schoen is being described in the music world as ‘the one to watch’, ‘a genuinely talented indie folk artist’, ‘a thing of beauty, arresting vocals, infectious tracks’, and ‘an act you don’t recognise on the lineup but upon hearing live, outshines the headliner, then you download their entire catalogue’.
Schoen has recently played a slew of supporting roles for the likes of Tash Sultana, Ronan Keating and Airling, an opportunity she said, that has been once in a lifetime.
“It’s been great getting to meet lots of incredible people, all so down to earth,” she said.
“You realise that you’re all just the same, all very similar artists. You may think you’re not doing too well but you talk to them and they’re all the same – we’re all very hard on ourselves but we’re all the same and just doing our bit to get ourselves out there.”
The self-taught guitarist found solace in music from a young age but said she has only recently taken off with her music career.
“Touring is my ultimate reality, I hate being in the one place for too long and I just want to take my music to different audiences,” she said.
Bunbury crowds are in for a treat at Schoen’s Good Nights performance with a captivating, powerful set from one of the state’s most promising artists.
“People can expect a really intimate, raw version of me and my songs,” she said.
“I’m really excited, I can’t wait to perform in Bunbury for this.”
The show will be part of a national tour for the singer/songwriter as she takes her music on the road to the eastern states.
