The South West Slammers women’s side proved too good for the Willetton Tigers at home on Friday night.
The Tigers started strongly and opened up a 13 point margin in the first term. By the quarter time buzzer, Willetton’s advantage stood at eight. Strong shooting from Raya Thompson quickly got the Slammers back on level terms with the Tigers and back-to-back threes from Courtney Bayliss had the Slammers up by one point at the main break.
Willetton wrestled back the lead early in the third term and held a one point lead at the final change.
Again it was Bayliss and her brilliant threes to the rescue and with help from Brittany Hodges and Georgia Denehey, the Slammers claimed an 89-78 win.
The Slammers then travelled to Perth on Sunday where they struggled against Lakeside.
The South West led by two points at the first change but were overrun in the second half to lose 111 to 66.
Hodges and Denehey both shot 18 points while Sydnee Fipps scored 27 for Lakeside.
